Dear Trauma Coach…

At Dear Trauma Coach, we are here for you when your trauma symptoms derail your life. You can talk to us. We can help you get through this moment. We aren’t therapists, so we won’t talk about what happened in the past. Instead, we will talk about what is happening right now, what you can do to feel better in this moment, and how you can build the skills to make these symptoms start to disappear.

Invest in your relationship with yourself

What is trauma?

Trauma is a mental and emotional reaction to something that happened to you.

What causes trauma?

Something that disturbs you. Something that haunts you. Something that makes you feel unsafe. It could be something that happened once, or it could be something that you lived with for a long time.

Wondering if you have trauma? If you are asking the question, you probably do.

If memories of the incident suddenly pop up, you might be experiencing trauma. If you are having nightmares, mood swings, or trouble concentrating after a traumatic event, you might be experiencing trauma.

You might find yourself getting stuck on the same thoughts, rehashing the same thing in your mind over and over. You might have strong emotional reactions to small things, and you might feel numb and emotionless at other times.

You might have anxiety. You might feel like you’re having a panic attack.

You might feel unable to control your own emotions.

You might feel like a cornered, wounded animal.

Without help, it can be hard to reclaim your life and begin to feel like yourself again.

Your trauma does not define you

You need a sounding board

Chances are, you feel like you are going through this alone. If you try to talk to others, you might feel “crazy” or like your trauma is an overwhelming burden to the person you’re talking to.

You are not crazy.

You just need to talk to someone who gets it.

DearTraumaCoach gets it.

Take ten minutes and text a trauma coach for help in re-centering your brain and your thoughts. Let someone help you get grounded in the moment.

This is not therapy - although therapy can be very helpful if you are ready. This is skill-building. This is reaching out to someone when you are in that moment when something triggered you and you feel like you are losing it. And you don’t know what to do. And you feel yourself shutting down and losing control at the same time.

Reach out. $20 for 10 minutes.

You won’t process what happened to you - that’s what therapy is for. You will only process what you are experiencing in this moment, and ways that you can feel better. Right now, in this moment. And when it happens again, which it will (for awhile anyway), reach out again. And gradually, over time, you will feel better and stronger on your own.

“I was in the bathroom at work crying and shaking and hyperventilating. I couldn’t move. DearTraumaCoach brought me back to earth. By text - I didn’t even have to leave the bathroom.”
